also training all your rhythms, whether it\u2019s sleep, blood pressure, heart rate or your cortisol rhythm to be earlier.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"shake-it-off\" class=\"subheader\" inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5x5po8001c3b6jcs1izt7o@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">\u201cResearch shows that movement can boost circulation and increase alertness, helping you shake off that sleepiness faster,\u201d Daddy data-analytics-observe=\"off\">Without enough sleep, your brain functions less efficiently, affecting your<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>coping skills, according to stress management expert <strong>Dr. Cynthia Ackrill,<\/strong> former editor for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stress.org\/daily-life\/contentment-magazine\"><strong>Contentment Magazine<\/strong><\/a>, produced by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/stress.org\">The American Institute of Stress<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">\u201cIt could limit your ability to sleep well that night,\u201d said sleep specialist Kristen Knutson, an associate professor of neurology and preventive medicine at Northwestern University\u2019s Feinberg School of Medicine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5x5po9001p3b6jyecrfhw5@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">brain, Dasgupta suggested.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5x5po9001q3b6jx8j0bv72@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">\u201cResearch shows that short naps can improve alertness, mood, and cognitive performance, helping you recover from sleep deprivation quickly and get that much-needed boost of energy to get you through the day,\u201d he said. \u201cJust make sure to keep it short and sweet \u2014 don\u2019t oversleep and end up in a deeper stage of your sleep cycle, he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5x5po9001r3b6jvc1ci6yt@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">Then try to go prioritize sleep that night, Knutson suggested in an email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv5x5po9001s3b6jfxt20xqv@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\" data-analytics-observe=\"off\">\u201cPlan to go to bed on time, if not a little earlier,\u201d she said. \u201cIn the hour or so before bed, engage in relaxing activities to prepare yourself for sleep.\u00a0And of course, listening to Taylor Swift counts as long as you turn it off before bed!\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"editor-note inline-placeholder\"
