More than half, 57%, of workers report experiencing the impacts of work-related stress such as emotional exhaustion, low motivation and a desire to quit, according to the American Psychological Association\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/pubs\/reports\/work-in-america\/2023-workplace-health-well-being\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023 Work in America Survey<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not a job ends up being stressful can be the result of a series of factors. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/09\/29\/this-secret-trick-can-help-you-deal-with-your-bad-boss-says-expert.html\">toxic boss<\/a>, an overwhelming workload and a lack of flexibility can all play into your experience. And, critically, stress can be subjective. \u201cWhat\u2019s best for [you] might not be for someone else,\u201d says Vicki Salemi, career coach at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.monster.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Monster<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"BoxInline-styles-makeit-container--iJPde \">\n<div id=\"BoxInline-ArticleBody-5\" class=\"BoxInline-styles-makeit-container--iJPde\" data-module=\"mps-slot\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>That being the case, \u201cit\u2019s important to do your own research before accepting any job opportunity to make sure a particular role is the right fit for\u00a0<em>you<\/em>,\u201d says LinkedIn career expert\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/drewmccaskill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andrew McCaskill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"ArticleBody-styles-makeit-subtitle--JP3GH\"><a id=\"headline0\"><\/a>Make a list of your ideal work situations<\/h2>\n<div class=\"group\">\n<p>In order to be aware of your personal red flags, you\u2019ll need to get a sense of what stress on the job could look like. Ask yourself, \u201cWhat does that job that\u2019s low stress look like to you and what does the employer provide?\u201d says Salemi.<\/p>\n<p>Does it mean working from home? If you\u2019re working from home, does it mean \u201cputting work aside and not having to think about it\u201d once the workday is over, says Salemi.
